Evelyn is 7 months old!!!

Our baby girl is 7 months old already. I can hardly believe how fast it is going by. According to our rough estimates she is 15 pounds 14 ounce (weighed in her onsie) and 27 1/4 inches long. I think her favorite food these days are bananas, she loves them freshly mashed up. The gerber puffs are a close second. We have tried crawling lessons multiple times but she still hasn't mastered that skill yet. I think she is content to roll and twist her way around everywhere. She is very curious about everything in site and reach. I think I might need to start baby proofing the apartment already!

Daddy was teaching her how to play the guitar this morning

St Patrick's Day and Smores

Evelyn can make her way around the family room/dining area quite well these days by rolling and turning in circles. The other night she managed to get herself stuck under the table. How? I have no idea!

I tried giving her a sippy cup the other day. All she wanted to do was chew on it.
Sunday night we decided to fire up the grill for some smores before Evelyn went to bed. No she didn't eat one or even really roast a mallow but we sure thought she looked cute attempting.

Happy Belated St. Patrick's Day! Nothing like a good parade to start off your Saturday.

The parade ran way into Evelyn's normal nap time. I couldn't believe she fell asleep like this during the parade. She never let go of her beads the whole time she slept.
Evelyn has made a friend in Hannah. Poor Hannah was exhausted too!
Ben and I were both just expecting to show up and watch a nice parade. Apparently in Louisiana you can't have a parade without beads and stuffed animals being thrown. I think I was still beaded out from Mardi Gras to really have any desire to catch any beads. Here are most of the beads we caught.

6 Months

Of all the months I didn't manage to take Evelyn's picture on the exact day it had to be her 6 month birthday, her halfway point. I blame it on us both having a bad cold. But here are her pictures, just about 2 weeks late. Sorry!

Evelyn weighed in at 14 pounds 14 ounces (25th percentile) and was 26 3/4 inches long (75-90th percentile). She makes her way around the living room pretty well now, all by rolling. She can sit up like a champ. She loves her baby food and is discovering real food as well. She enjoyed some mashed potatoes last night and loves fresh bananas! She has become a tummy sleeper and I think she even had her butt sticking up just a little last night. She loves to talk and is very vocal whenever I try to talk on the phone. Apparently she wants to talk to. She has been spitting up less each day which is AMAZING!!!!

We have been taking her pictures with a number printed out on computer paper. As you can see below we might need to come up with a sturdier way to display the number :)

The last month and a half

This is what Evelyn has been up to the last month and a half. She has mastered sitting up! Below is a picture of her when she first started sitting.

She loves books!
We have matching shirts and we both wore them on the same day

This happens frequently haha
She loves her new high chair

She definitely rocks sitting up. She will sit her and play with these blocks for a good 20 mins without falling over.

Dad has decided she needs some crawling lessons :)
This is how dad feeds her a banana.
Evelyn fell asleep with her hand on Ben's face. It was pretty funny!

Mardi Gras 2012

We couldn't live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana without going down to New Orleans and experiencing good old Mardi Gras. Our friends Kip and Sarah were kind enough to invite us to stay at Sarah's parents house Monday night and show us the ropes on catching beads :) We managed to make it to 3 parades Monday afternoon/night and 1 parade Tuesday morning. I am so glad Ben had a few days off from class and teaching. Down here they have a Mardi Gras break, how awesome is that!

Below is Evelyn's first experience sitting forward in her stroller. I have to admit I have just been lazy preferred to leave her in her infant car seat. After this smile
I guess it's time for a change, about time mom!

I couldn't believe how many beads managed to make it into the trees! These are all beads from previous days and parades.

If you are a regular and you have kids, this apparently is the thing to have. People will make this for their kids to sit in during the parades so they can catch beads better. Insane right?!

Below was Monday afternoon. As you can see it was fairly calm and not too crowded.
Now this is Tuesday afternoon, much different don't you think? This was also closer to the beginning of the parade route. Speaking of parade route...there was this awesome app for our phone that tracked the parade so you could see what block it was currently at.
This is Evelyn's first spoil of Mardi Gras. The lady in the parade pointed to Evelyn and wanted her to have it.

Can you believe all the beads we caught after just one parade?! Evelyn is wearing all of Ben's beads (well minus 2 beads that were given to her).
Ben sporting his lovely bead collection.
The McBrides joined us as well as some of our other friends that we didn't get pictures of. Now that I think of it, we should have taken a fun group picture. Dang.

See these lady's beads? Yah...we were jealous. Ben and I were both hoping to catch some like this. They don't throw too many out though.

Below is from Tuesday afternoon but Monday night was definitely our favorite. We were enjoying ourselves so much we didn't get any pictures. Sorry!

Evelyn was so exhausted Tuesday that she crashed during the parade. I felt so bad that we went home shortly after.
Evelyn with all the spoils. This was all mainly from Monday's parades.

Insane I know! Overall we had a great time! I wasn't sure what to expect since you hear so many different things about Mardi Gras, but with the right people and the right location on the parade route you will have a blast!
